Know the Doctor
Dr. Benjamin Yim finished his medical degree from Monash University (Melbourne) in 1994. He spent the next 2 years doing hospital postings in Singapore before attaining full medical registration by the Singapore Medical Council in 1997.
He spent the next one and a half years as an infantry battalion medical officer Singapore Armed Forces. During this time he completed a Diploma in Practical Dermatology from the University of Wales in 1998. Dr Yim graduated with the University of London degree of Master of Science in Clinical Dermatology in 1999 after completing one year in St John's Institute of Dermatology.
In 2000, he started his own aesthetic laser clinic in Orchard Hotel. It was in the year 2001 that the Her World Magazine first featured the IPL skin rejuvenation treatment with Dr Yim. Since then, Dr Yim's armamentarium of minimally invasive aesthetic procedures has grown exponentially to include services like Botox, skin fillers, peels, fat transfer, thermage, threadlifts and vaser liposelection and fractional resurfacing using the Mosaic laser. Dr Yim's passion in this field does not just revolve around his clinical practice.

Consultation
During the consultation, Dr. Benjamin discussed with Yuri her skin concerns and the most suitable procedure that could possibly treat her existing skin problems.
Yuri's main concern was her skin pigmentation. However, Dr. Benjamin ascertained that Yuri's pigmentation is still light. The more serious problem is her dull skin and small wrinkles around her eyes.
Thus, he decided to give Yuri a MOSAIC Treatment. To address her skin pigmentation concerns, Dr. Benjamin also added in an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Treatment.
Treatment
IPL + MOSAIC
An IPL Treatment gives the skin radiance by adding colour, while the MOSAIC gives the face a smoother texture and evens out one's skin tone.
The IPL Treatment is a type of photorejuvenation to address pigment skin problem such as freckles, sun spot, age spots and worsening melasma.
The MOSAIC is a form of fractional laser which requires no downtime and is complication-free. It is suitable for all skin types and is one of the more popular treatments in Singapore, as the results and effects are good. As a person ages, their collagen content reduces. The MOSAIC helps to stimulate fiber and promotes collagen growth. The equipment used for this treatment is FDA approved and has been clinically tested and accredited by MOH.
Procedures

Remove Make-Up and Cleanse Face
Before starting with the procedure, Yuri was required to completely remove her make-up and to cleanse her face thoroughly.

Application of Numbing Cream
In preparation of the procedure, the therapist applied a topical anesthetic or a numbing cream all over Yuri's face.

Filling out of Consent Form
While waiting for the numbing cream to take full effect, Yuri was asked to fill up the clinic's consent form.

Application of Cold Gel
As a protective layer for her skin, a cold gel was applied evenly all over Yuri's face before the IPL treatment.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Flashed the IPL on her cheeks and on the sides of her face. After the IPL treatment was complete, the therapist then thoroughly removed the cold gel from Yuri’s face.

Application of Gliding Oil
For the Mosaic machine to move smoothly, ample amount of gliding oil was applied evenly all over the face.

Mosaic Treatment - Stamping
The first step of the Mosaic treatment involves the use of laser lights which penetrates deeply into the skin.

Mosaic Treatment – Dynamic
The second step of the Mosaic treatment still makes use of laser lights. The laser lights are flashed evenly all over the face.

Application of Cold Compress
After completing the Mosaic treatment, a towel filled with ice cubes was dabbed all over the face to cool it down after the treatment.

Application of Hydronic Mask
A hydronic mask was applied to Yuri’s face to hydrate and soothe her face after the Mosaic treatment.

Application of Sun block
As a final step, sun block was generously applied on Yuri’s face to protective her sensitive skin from the sun’s UV rays.
