The Best Way of Preventing Acne Scars

The effects of acne scars can be damaging both physically and emotionally.  The lesions, although healed, leave behind memories and marks that are quite unappealing.  Nothing has been found to completely eliminate acne scarring.  However, an understanding of your skin may help in assuaging your acne problem’s potential long-term damage.

An acne scar is a result of our tissue’s ability to repair itself after sustaining an injury.  After the human skin suffers injuries, which includes acne, the body attempts to heal the damaged tissue.  However, the tissue cannot always be restored to its pre-injury state.  There really is no accurate study relating why some people end up with acne scars and why some simple do not.  To attempt to explain this, people have claimed that scarring simply “runs in the blood”.  Thus, scarring is considered a hereditary bane.  Some also scar permanently, while some people have scars that eventually vanish over time.

Since we have very little knowledge on acne scars, the best way to prevent acne scars then would be to prevent its cause – which is acne.  Acne must be treated early.  The more inflamed the acne, the higher probability that it will scar.  Also, it is important not to prick, poke or touch your pimple.  Let your dermatologist handle a safe and proper extraction to avoid acne scars.  It is also important to know that the healthier you are, the faster your body will heal.  You should not forego the basics such as eating the right foods with the right portions, drinking lots of water and other healthy liquids, and getting just enough rest.  It is also essential to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays.  Stay away from toxins that harm your body such as alcohol, nicotine and other things that causes free radical damage.
